Bad Torque Converter??

Bad Torque Converter??

What clues someone into a bad torque converter? My truck seems to slip into both second and third once its gotten warmed up????

that dont sound like a torque converter to me. it sounds like it is time for a rebuild.

Yeah, doesn't sound like what was going on when I had rebuild tranny, when the main culprit was the torque converter. If you gassed it easy it'd accelerate and then 'pop' around forty or so. At its height you'd be going down the interstate and you press the gas and the tranny woul;d think it was in neutral, it'd just rev up a lot. Not fun when big rig is giving you stare down in mirror. Hmmm, slipping means bad gears or go ahead with complete rebuild if you have the money. My .02 cents.

Is there something I can do that might potentially prolong the life of my tranny?

see if you can tighten the bands up a bit but when it starts slipping it normally is over and need rebuild or go to junkyard and try one from there but those have no warranty or guarantee
