Help please what is this sensor
I have a 1994 f150 4x4 with a 302 in it with mass air there is a sensor in the side of the airbox, its grey plastic with a thin piece of metel sticking out of it almost like a thick pin with a rounded tip on it like the end of a bobby pin. What sensor is this?
The reason i ask is because my truck keeps setting a code 172, runnin lean, i have checked everything and i cant find whats causing the code. Does anyone have any ideas for me to check?

Have you cleaned the mass air sensor? That is the big one in line of the air intake tubes. Clean the two wires in it with some rubbing alcohol and a q-tip. Also check for vacuum leaks, and make sure everything in the intake is sealed between the MAF and the throttle body.

Thankyou guys for the replys, i just cleaned the maf sensor (it was really dirty), replaced the old cracked o-ring on that sensor, and fixed a leaking intake hose connection. so far so good, i will have to see how it does on my 15 mile drive to work tomorrow. Thanks again guys, this site is great.
