If your steering pump and AC clutch are on the same belt, and you were to lose the belt you would lose power steering. Other than that, I don't see a relationship between the two.
If the steering is wandering, look for worn out tie rod ends or a worn out steering box. If the tires are wearing funny, look for worn out ball joints or other suspension pivot points (control arm bushings, etc).
