yea, the diesel engine if properly mainted will last a really long time. i would think there would be some folks who have got there nice psds paid off and dont want to get rid of it. the rest of the truck will wear out before the engine does and thats where its going to get expesive. if you wanted to keep your truck you could just keep pulling it out and rebuilding it. not an easy task with all the sopicated teconlogy and stuff but you could do it. i know of a 2000 1 ton dodge ram cummins that put a million miles on it without a rebuild. thats right a million he was a truck driver and drove trailers all over the country for a living and chyrsler gave him a new truck! but at that many miles his cummins was leaking and smoking beyond beleif. every 200 miles he had to stop and put oil in. lets see if a psd can do that! also my friend has a 88 toyta 4 banger with almost 400,000 and no rebuild on it. id like to see an american made gasoline do that.
I got 270,000 but mines not a psd it just an old 6.9l. Shes a farm truck been a farm truck since day one plows snow in the winter and hauls trailers wagons trees houses well maybe not houses but anything that needs moven shell get the job done. Not bad for a truck thats just about 20 yrs old. Evrythings orginal except the tranny upgraded to an overdrive.
no offence but i dont think anyone could put 1,000,000 miles on a 2000 dodge, at least not this fast. that means he would have had to average over 900 miles a day everyday from january 1, 2000 to January 1, 2003 if he drove till jan 1 2004 he would have had to average almost 600 miles aday everyday. i dont know i am just kinda of skeptical when it comes to mileage. now i have heard of someone putting a million miles on a 96 or so dodge.
