Deal?

What I'm looking at is a 1994 F-350 4X4 CC SRW with a 7.5L V8 460 engine with 105,000 miles. It runs and drives fine. The seats are junk...just ripped up. Everything else is in nice condition and it comes with a cb installed in the roof. The tires are near new. The only problems are the seats and the tailgate that is banged up. It also has a bed liner in it. The list price is $11,995...on sale for $9,650. I got a deal to trade in my Jeep plus $1,400. Said I would think about it and got them to come down to about $600. Called them back and said no thanks...would think about it again or try to sell me Jeep to a private party. Got an e-mail from the dealer saying straight up trade...no money to change hands. Now, the money parts is a good deal, but how about the truck? I have been looking for one of these for a while. How will it hold up? I don't expect the engine to last much longer, but I will deal with that as it comes up if I go though with this deal. What are people getting for gas mileage with this engine. I am prepared to get 8 MPG, but should I get more than that? Thank you for all your answers ASAP, as they told me to come in tomorrow. I would appreciate any help and especially would like information on the mileage of these trucks. Thank again.

PS - This was really the only room that really fit this question. Sorry if there was a more appropriate room, but this one gets a lot of traffic through it.

Seems the dealer is anxious to get hold of your Jeep. Have you priced the two vehicles using kbb.com or edmunds.com? If you really want the truck, ask if you can have it over a weekend and get it checked out by an independent shop.

Thanks for the info. I drove it and was surprised about the way it drove. It was extremely smooth. I had a Dodge Ram 1500 before my Jeep, and it was a really nice ride, but they are so cheaply made. I had to fix a lot of things that went wrong. And the Jeep is too small for going deer/elk hunting. As for this Ford F-350... my Jeep is a base model. I could probably get $11,000 for it from a private party, but that would take a lot of work and time. The dealer offered me $10,500 for it on trade with the $11,995 price of the truck, so they will sell it for about $13,995. So, as far as the price comparison, I think I am getting a good deal. My only concern is with the engine. Eventually I would get new seats in the truck. I did not see anything dripping beneath the truck after I drove it from where it was parked. When I looked under the hood, I did see some anti-freeze pooled near the fill tank. I think it was just spilled from when they changed it as there was none dripping down and what I did see looked fresh and not stuff that leaked out. The engine looks great and is super clean. It looks like it is new. I really appreciate the information. I just needed some info since I have never had a Ford truck before. Thanks again.
