1995 E-150 Limited Slip Options ??
Thanks
Look at the side bars near your post...plenty of ads for posi-trac.
I have a few places near where I live that specialise in diffs.
I think the codes for posi-trac usually have a letter to go with the #. I have similar van as yours only a year newer.
I use good tires and a few hundred lbs in the back, and don't have any probs.
Keep in mind if you have positrac, and are on a snowy hill, you will go sideways pretty quick. Could hit the curb, or car parked there or pedestrians. Once you get both tires spinning, they better have good rubber.
If you don't see anything you like here, try 4 wheeler mag. They sell them in the mag somewhere.
The cheapest way to go is to buy 3 bags of sand. 70 lbs each. Keep your gas tank filled, and at least all season tires with good tread. Snows are better. Studs=much better.
If you really need the locker, good luck, and use caution on roads with a high crown.
Now Leo, because of the weight of the van I really do not have a problem in the snow, sometimes traction lacks a little after a fresh rain but nothing major. I also have 235/75R15 Michelin LTX M/S Mud and Snows (Excellent tires 65,000 warranty albeit a little on the expensive side).
In about a year I will be moving to a rural part of Kansas. The farm my family and I will be living on has unpaved gravel roads. Sometimes they get muddy and it snows some. Since this is the main family cruiser, do you think it would be worth the investment of an Auburn Limited slip (they support ABS systems)? Sometimes I tow a 4000 lbs boat trailer and a 3000 camper trailer.
Thanks,
CB
I didn't know about the upcoming move to the boondocks..different story.
I think the anti-spin or whatever you're going to put in would be worth a try.
Hope it's enough for you.
Might end up needing a 4X4.
Well, good luck..let us know what you do.
You're right..I thought it was a snow issue. On the farm, you might need the locker.
How'd you get the wife to agree to this move? You must have a gun to her head!
My '94 E 150 has the posi trac rear and has a H9 code on the driver's door sticker. This rear end doesn't have the large axle hubs like the dana, so your normal 5 lug original wheels will work on it.
If you find that your van doesn't have the H9 code on the door sticker, a rear end like mine should be available from a salvage yard from a E 150 or F 150 at a reasonable price.

I've looked into limited slip, auto-lockers, and manual lockers for my E350. I eventually decided I didn't want to compromise towing reliability, so I'm going to leave it stock. I also like the 3.73, and most traction options required 4.1 or higher.
