Back up lights not working

Back up lights not working

87 2.9l 4x4 manual ranger......back up lights are not working. I have checked bulbs and fuse. I'm having problems locating the backup lamp switch. Can anyone tell me what side of the transmission it plugs into and what it looks like. Is there anything else I can check? Thanks....Michelle

Have you traced the wires to make sure one is not grounding to the frame? I have had broken wire under the truck from too much "non road use". Just a thought
