I own a 87 f150 and love the truck I have a couple question one the idle fluctuates between 700 and 1100 rpms, I have ran several tanks with injector cleaner and still no improvement. The second question is once in a while when I come to stop the engine stalls. Any help woiuld be great.
No I have not done tune up. I will try that and I dont think it is the timeing because I get decent gas milage for a four speed but I will check it also
on the throttle body there is an electric motor that ajusts your idle, most times the worm drive that connects the motor to the throttlebody gets gunked up with carbon and reacts to slow which will stall out your motor when starting, either carefully take it off and clean the worm drive or ford offers and manual ajusting plate that works around it, good luck
Right idea there, but there isn't a worm gear. It's just an electric solonoid that pushes a valve open or closed. The adjustment plate just allows idle speed to be adjusted without moving the throttle stop, thus changing the idle voltage from the tps. The idle air control valve seems like a likely place to start for sure.
