Have read the forums for an hour or so and understand about Hellwig anti-sway bar and Landyot's radial rods being "the" upgrade.
However, I'm unclear on the shocks. I have '03 4x4 Eddie Bauer Excursion PSD. Not interested in lift kits, etc. Only use for 4wd is on the boat ramp as needed and in slippery winter weather. Tow my 4500 lb boat/trailer and will do highway travel a few times a year. So I'm looking for better shocks for nice highway ride but not so soft that towing would suffer. Prefer slightly stiffer ride; not interested in Cadillac ride.
Truck is relatively new [3k miles but sat on lot for 1 year] but forums seem to indicate stock shocks not that great. Also don't like how truck bounces around if I hit sections of heavily patched roadway going 45mph+. Seems to start to get sideways and then settles back down.
According to Bilsteins they don't make a shock for the 02 and newer X. I put the new Edelbrock shocks on my 02, it definately made a great improvement. I tow about the same weight as you in snowmobiles or my Harley's, they have a great ride towing or not.
