Braking vibration on 2000 Excursion.
Trying to help my Father-in-law with his 2000 Excursion. It accelerates fine, but if you are doing 50mph and apply the brakes, the whole rig shakes until you get below 40mph, not violently, but enough to cause concern. He had the rear rotors replaced, and the front rotors checked out fine. The tires were also balanced and rotated. The shop told him the tires were cupped and as soon as they wore down, the vibration would go away. I looked at the tires, and the cupping is barely noticeable, nothing I would expect to cause the vibration we are getting. They said the alignment was fine too. What else could be causing this, he is ready to go get new tires, but I really don't think it will help much.

From my experience, having the same problem, the rotors are warped. I would have them checked for run out. The problems went away for a short time and then it started to vibrate again. My cure for this was to put on a set of slotted rotors and Hawk high performance pads. I found them on the internet at truck perfomance. Be sure if you are doing the work to torque the wheels.
