I was just wondering if anyone has ever done a 1/4 mile test with their bronco. If so what kind of engine and mods? I want to do mine out at the LVMS but I am affraid I would probably only run somewhere around mid 20's.
I know nothing about 1/4 miles times.. But i wanted to comment on your Bronco.. NICE! I like it. How much was the paint job? Did you get the top painted there? Im considing going with a Charcoal color.. with a black top.
Thanks, Well I got pretty lucky. I was truck shopping and just saw my bronco sitting in a empty lot. I saw it and was like man! That is a nice paint job. So when I bought the guy told me that he had just had it done because he wanted to get rid of it fast. so I have no idea where or how much. sorrry, but thanks for the compliment.
Would that 1/4 mile be on or off road? Anybody wants to race my Bronco with a car, I tell them since they picked the vehicles, I get to pick the track/course or "Now you beat me on your track, lets go to mine......"
Yeah Azpete, you got it! I tell people who want to race off-road is the only way. Shuts the Camaro boys up. Mine seems to be best in the middle to high power range, so a 1/4 mile time is pointless. I topped it out for the first time this w/e and it was pretty effortless, the truck did not struggle or grunt at all. I'd estimate somewhere around a 100 or 103 tops as how fast we went. It weird cause it feels like you are flying when you are going 80 in a Bronco let alone the top speed. Anyone else know where I am coming from? -wb
yeah, the I-15 in Southern California, we found a new speed limit, Who the hell cares! Everyone drives just as fast as they can push there car, 80 even seems like your in a Jet, its the wind, we are driving a box, not too aerodynamic, its like a hot knife...... through concrete!
i plan on high 13's when i throw my new 460 carb in i have no idea what it is now havent even tried it yet. hell maybe all slap a super charger on the new engine make the time a little better
yeah, I know with my 94, with a 5.8 that 80 feels like i'm flying. I am curious to see what my 1/4 time would be, maybe I'll get out and test it once the snow is off the roads... so, should the time be in 2wd or 4wd?
my brother had a 79 with a 400/c6 in it, and i had my 84 bronco with a 302 and a srod 4 speed. we both ran 16.9-17.1 ... dont recall the trap speeds. I could run my truck with the srod crappy gearing and 3.55 axle ratio and 32 inch tires through the trapps reved out in second, or shift to third .. hehe, think it would hit limit right before the traps in second. best part was, my brother slapped a 4 barrel on a few weeks later, and we went to englishtown raceway park on imports vs domestics, and he was running about 16.2's, and smoking the old civics and stuff that were there. not bad for a big old hunking piece of 'antiquated american technology'. its a lotta fun, and the strange looks u get are reason enough for my to take my truck there.
I got a 94 XLT with 67,000 miles on it and a stock 5.0...Hows a bout 17.2 in quarter...Not too bad babyin it. Not too good mashing the throttle for drag though that's why you get a lightning.
