Accelerating by itself

I have a '89 XLT Bronco that I just bought, and it has a major problem with the transmition, or cruse control, it wants to idle up to 20-30mph when idleing, I have to hold on the brake to keep it from going faster.
I thought this might be a idle problem, but on a post I read something about a vacuum control(Vacuum Modulator I think.)that could cause something similar, but I'm not sure if it would cause this.

Check to make sure you throttle linkage and cable isnt getting bound up. Could be something in the way of the linkage keeping it from returning to the idle position. Also make sure you dont have a floor mat in the way too.

Mine just did the same thing a few weeks ago. It was stuck idling at about 2000 RPM. Found that it was the cruise control cable was stuck. I just disconnected it at the throttle body and it corrected it. (I was in the middle of a road trip!!!) The bad thing is I haven't had time to see was is wrong with it so for now my cruse doesn't work.
