i just installed some after market speakers in my 1996 explorer and i have noticed there is alot of "rattling" of the door. the speakers are plenty enough for what i want and sound really good but when they are in the door there is alot of rattling. can any help me, maybe tell me if i can do something to preventt the rattling or anything.
Are they 3-way speakers?
The problem may be that the more frequencies provided by after market speakers can cause more vibrations. There is a product called "diamondmat" that provides shock asorbing to reduce vibration noise. You may want to look into it. I personally find it a bit overpriced yet I buy it because it works.
A friend of mine had the same problem a few months ago, he went the extra step and put rubber bushings between the speakers and the mounting points, the problem went away.
