I had an '89 F-150 4X4 and the transfer case called for Mercon ATF fluid. Easy and cheap to change. Unfortunately it's just as easy to forget about until you have problems. It should realistically be changed every 30,000 miles. The fluid is cheap, the transfer case is EXPENSIVE!

yea i know. lol I just traded my piece of junk chevy for this rig to a friend and it had sat around for a long time and is really tight getting it into 4 low. I'll try that atf. thanks
