hey guys. need some help here. i have a f-150 4.6 4x4 ext.cab.
i want a f-250 crewcab for long drining range, and fuel milage. can someone tell me the difference between the 6.0//and the 7.3 engine from ford. is there a big difference in milage, power, reliability????thast most important to me. thanks in adavance and if you can , call me up! bye!!!626-786-6567
Like any new engine, the 6.0 has seen its day(s) in the dealerships getting recall work done. For the most part, your 7.3 and 6.0 will get about the same fuel economy though the 6.0 is advertised as being higher mpg but also has more hp. The 7.3 was replaced by the 6.0 due to EPA and Ford not being able to throttle down the exhaust products to present/future requirements. The 7.3 ws in production for 13+ years and has many more mods available for it to squeeze more mpg and/or hp out of it. The 6.0 is fast getting there too but still has less modifications available at the present time. I'd check with the 6.0 forum and do a little research there. They will have comparison information as some have been converts from 7.3 to the newer 6.0 and can give you first hand knowledge. Good luck finding your dream machine. You'll be happy with either engine over a gasser. I'd watch the rear ends for my mileage. Different rears equate to much different mpg. Lower the number the better the mpg.
I've heard alot of people are disapointed with the 6.0 fuel milage. Normal 7.3 will get around 17mpg. " I've heard" , correct me if I wrong anybody but the 6.0 is only getting 13-14 mpg.
