Steering wheel "clunks"
Recently crashed replaced front clip.
Frame was a little bent but not bad.
Now when driving and you turn the steering wheel it clunks hard to explain feels like if you where rolling a steel bar with a flat spot on it one clunk per about 3/4 rotation of steering wheel. Also feels loose side to side
After the wreck I checked everything on the front suspensiona and it all seems good. What do you guys think?
Bent the frame more than I thought.
Bent the steering rod or linkage.
messed up the steering box.
Trying to not spend money on figuring this out all the loacl garrages here charge for estimates and I would hate to take it in and have them tell me it is something really stupid I could have found and fixed myself
IDEAS???
I'd also check all of the linkage down below to make 100% sure that nothing is loose, binding, bent, or worn out. Especially the tie-rod ends. Give it a good inspection...maybe even with the front end off the ground (jack it up by the frame, or by the axle or lower control arm).
Another thing to check is the wheel bearings..make sure they are properly preloaded, greased, and not worn out. Check for bent brake rotors, axles (if it's 4wd) or spindles (if it's 2wd).
