bought this three days ago at 65 had a shudder in tranny and light would flash ,took back to the dealer and he took it to tranny shop and they put in a new t/c ,filter fluid andlock up seleniod. got it back today and shudder is gone but the light still comes on flashing any idea's or input what might be wrong . going back to dealer in morning to see what they say thank's
I had a similar problem with an 95 F350 diesel I had, the light would come on and the tranny would start shifting real hard and go into limp home mode they called it , with full line pressure. Unfortunately I forgot how I fixed it, whatever it was seemed like it was an easy fix, you might try ford-diesel.com if yours sounds similar, and if you have no luck here. I realize a little explorer and a huge turbodiesel F350 must have different transmissions. just my $.02
tried the battery ,and drove again came back on but it was still in o/d .went auto store bouhgt actron code reader no codes came up said passed . left it pludged in went for short drive and pulled po153 slow o2sensor that's it . unhooked battery agian went for another drive did samething seams the it shifts little ruff but .don't get why no code
If the O2 sensor is bad it may throw a code into the computer that currupts the shift pattern, Ok I know how rediculous it sounds but I had a bad EGR sensor do that very thing on my 95.
Bugman: You could be looking at a very expensive repair if it requires a transmission rebuild and you get stuck paying for it. Even if it's the oxygen sensor(s), it can be spendy. Make sure the place you bought the vehicle from is very aware of your problem and that you get it resolved properly.
Did you buy it from a dealership? If so, have them run the service history on the vehicle for you.
