Bucket seat install

Has anybody taken out the factory bench seat and installed bucket seats? I got a set of 1990 Mustang bucket seats for free and want to use them. I took out my bench today in preparation of getting the floor patched and cleaned the floor down. There are no other bolt holes from the factory to install the tracks for bucket seats so drilling the floor is the only option. Has anybody done this and was it as easy as you thought doing it? If you did do it, how did you adapt the bucket seat tracks to go with the contour of the floor. If you have any pictures of the set ups you used that would be a great start to help me out.

Thanks Bill

I have'nt yet but I have a set of original bucket seats out of a 67 I am thinking about putting in my 71 pretty soon. These have the correct frame rails that bolt in where the bench seat does.
You will have to modify either or both of the seat mounts and the floor. Should'nt be all that hard to make it work

I happen to like the 6-way power seats in the chevys so I have a set of seats out of 95-99 suburban and will make them fit

check the floor real close, I got some stampings of the bucket seat brackets and with the floor clean in my 68 you can see dimples where the floor pan was stamped so that they could easily be drilled from the factory

I fabracated my own bucket seat mount. I used the mounting tabs on the original and then welded my own frame work to that. I will try to get a picture of it and post it.

krazdndenver, I think that's the route I'm gonna go also. I figures that if I take the brakets off the left and right sides of the original bench I can fabricate a platform to mount the bucket seats on. I bet that i can also make a console to fit between them for my stereo and other stuff to cover up the platform and not make it so noticeable. If you could post your pics here I could get a little better look and understanding of how it should look.

Thanks Bill

Seats - no Mounts

I am interested in what the stock bucket seat mounts looked like. I purchased some 65-66 Mustang Buckets and figure I will have to make up some form of pedastal to mount-but would like to see what the stock (this was a rare option and used 65-66 Mustang Buckets) mounting looked like.

I bought by bucket seats from corbeau. They also make a mounting braket to bolt their seats to, The install became a strictly bolt in thing. The seats came with sliderers so they can be moved for diffrent drivers.

Thanks

Thanks for tip-I'll keep checking it' I'm in no hurry, and almost think I'd prefer making a sheet metal base (like my console).
