my 01'f350,cc,v-10 lariet,4x4 is on the third set of auto locking hubs.they keep frizzing up in the locked position.my dealer cant seem to explain the cause.anyone else had this problem?
on the highway it sounded like i was in 4wheel drive but wasnt.in two wheel mode,if you grab one of the front u joints you should be able to turn it some before it locks.:-staun
Sounds like the service dept is either NOT changing the hubs or are not installing the new ones properly. All of the ESOF equipment on my '01 is working perfectly.
I mentioned this same problem some time ago to a parts man at the
local Ford dealership and his reply was; 99-2000 and some 2001's had
a problem with the vac seal in the hub. The seal was coated with a
very thin plastic film (to protect during ship to hub assem.) by mfg.
Hub mfg. did not know to remove film and over time & use this often got
wrinkled, resulting in bad vac. seal - leaving you stuck in or out.
He had a whole box full of replacement seals, (that looked like teflon
rings to me) just waiting. Hope this helps.
