Startup died after year's storage

original ownr 89 ranger 2.9L 6cyl suprcab. 70K only.
stored outside in the great but moist Northwest.

new battery. started up immediately, ran great, then sputtered out in about 30 sec. Won't start again, or even "catch" briefly. 24 hours wait no help/ Tank 75% full.

Suggestions? Water in line? (if so, how remove?)

TIA!

If you didn't use some kind of fuel stabilizer, replace it. Change ALL the fluids, and give it another try.

One quick & simple thing that you can try is to remove the air tube from the throttle body & see if it runs. If it does run, pull the air filter out & see what's clogging up the works.

Also, while you have the air intake tube off, give it a VERY LITTLE shot of starting fluid and see if it catches at all.
Take all the old gas out, change the fuel filter, add gasline antifreeze to remove any remaining water, and put in fresh gas.

Hi 89,

There's a product called PRI that claims to restore old gas
http://www.priproducts.com. I've heard from outdoor power equip people that it's pretty good stuff.
