Question about pearl
I had a slight thought about upgrading from my medium royal blue metallic thats goin on my truck to a pearl version. I'm not too familiar with it though. It sprays on over the basecoat correct? What does it normally run price wise and for a complete int/ext paintjob on a 77 single cab how much would it take to do?

Pearl can be added to the basecoat or be applied over the top of the basecoat.
If applied over the top, it takes an additional step and requires a painter that knows what he is doing. Repairs are also more difficult because of the blending issues associated with the tri-coat procedure.

Probably the best way to see the affect is to go to your local auto paint store and look at their chip books. Someone there should be able to point you to a paint that has had pearl added to it.
