All I know about late mopar products is I have yet to meet an owner who HASN'T had transmission problems with them. And that's across the board, mini-vans, pickups, the cab-forward cars. Sorry I don't have a useful suggestion for you.

I haven't serviced that particular tranny, but if it were mine I'd drop the pan and see what's in the bottom. I'd replace the filter and while I was in there I'd retorque the valve body bolts, preying that they were all somewhat loose.

Those are loose band symptoms. You can tighten them, but you need a Chiltons guide for the tranny.

Disconnect the neg bat cable for about 5 min then reconnect it.
The electronicly controled trans will go through a learning peroid for about the first 50 start off,s.If that don't work it may be rebuild time.
When it fineally stops shifting it will go into limp mode and won't shift out of second gear.

There's a simple fix for all of these FWD Mopars:

1) Park vehicle near edge of high cliff, remove all necessary family members and personal belongings.

2) Place transmission in neutral, get vehicle rolling in perpendicular direction toward cliff, extract self from vehicle at last possible moment.

3) Call insurance agent, plead ignorance.

This has worked quite well for me with my last 5 Omni/ Horizons.

I had a Plymouth Horizon! Fun car to drive (it was a stick) but it was expensive to maintain!

Not all of us are thinking "drive it over the cliff". There should be a vacuum modulator that may be the problem. It may be a vacuum leak. Pull the hose to the modulator and see if there is oil there. Put a vacuum guage in the system. If no oil, replace the modulator. Usually adjusting the bands will not fix this type of problem. Go to the local auto parts store and get a can of "Sea Foam" and dump it in there. If that doesn't work, you may be looking at more serious problems. But we aren't to the cliff solution yet! Don't give up!!!

We do dare talk chrysler's

Hey Mr hreed. Im the guy unlucky enough to have chrysler tranny problem's or I should say used to have tranny problem's thank's to you she's shifting like new. I undid the - batt term and checked for vacuum leak. up on the manafold was a small hose that had a very small hole. replaced that hooked batt back up and took her for a spin. at first it just wanted to stay in first gear but after five min it started shifting better then it had in year's just wanted to thank you. I love this site
