hi guys, can someone decode this vin please-F10CR37641, also on the 60 model, do the stub axles share their diameters with a latter vehicle for an easy disc conversion, i realise numerous retailers sell kits over there but when the rotors wear i need to source them locally( this will be an everyday hack )also what options were available as far as the instruments go?can u end up with a full compliment of gauges by sticking with OEM?..cya..gary
Gary, F100, 292 Y block V8, any idea if there was a 0 between C and R? R is for the san jose California plant it was built at and the rest of it is the truck serial #.
I'm not good with aftermarket stuff so no help on the brakes.
No options for the F100 as far as insturments went. If you'd like to remain stock, try finding a large 57-60 F-600+ as it will have more room in that guage panel to add. -4speed
hmmm.... You might be able to pull a plug and measure, but pulling the head would actually help. $5 says its a 292(most turn into 312's on selling day). -4speed
Some big Ford trucks after 1960 used the same gauge panel, with tach and air pressure gauges where the stars are.
About the brakes, try ecihotrodbrakes; they have adapter plates that'll let you use GM calipers and F150 discs. No machining, just change the bearings.
hi guys, firstly the y block has always been something i would throw away and replace with a cleveland but in this instance i must be getting old because i am looking at this one from a different angle, is it possible to measure the stroke ( like with the 302/351 clev )as pulling the head is not an option ( i would rather change motors ). secondly the 60 is a LHD which has recently come into the country although a mate of mine has a factory RHD i could get some pics if u want it may take a few weeks though because of the distance involved. just thinking for a moment, did y blocks have the size cast into the cranks as the cleveland did?, dropping the sump should be a 10 minute job, and chances are it leaks anyway>.....cya...gary
