mabe it's just me, but is there anyone else out there that could watch this 24-7. i have never been a card player and hate to gamble but i just cant get enough....someone help me!!
I have never played poker in my life but I too watch poker on tv. Seeing the cards and watching them make huge bets has been really interesting. I catch my wife walking past the tv and stopping to watch a hand. Either Texas hold em is very interesting or there are subliminal messages on their cards.
Hold em is the best. If you ve never played you should try online where you can practice up for free, then head down to your local casino. They often have beginner tournaments with 10-20 buck buy ins. Great fun.

I wouldn't mind playing online for free, got a link??
You can play at Yahoo Games but its pretty clunky and people are slow. You can also play for free at pokerstars.com. Its much better, and if you feel like mixing it up a little you can play for real money. As low as 1cent/2cent blinds up to...well more than i care to play for...they also have free tournaments and cheap ($1 or $3) entry fee tourneys. Its fun.
There's no other poker like Hold 'Em - exciting, daring, and aggressive. I watch it all the time on ESPN, and like to play it with my family and take all their money!
As far as poker on the computer, I'd recommend Empire Poker (www.empirepoker.com). It's free, and when you play online you are playing other people live - for fake money or for real. Not as good as the real thing though, because online, EVERYONE plays aggressive (at least with fake money), but it's fun anyway, and good practice.
If you guys like Texas Hold'em you should watch a movie called "Rounders" its with Matt Damon and Edward Norton (kick a$$ actor by the way) and all about poker. Great movie go rent it if you haven't already seen it yet!

For me "wasting" money by gambling in any form has never made a bit of sense. I mean sure I'm trying to continually date two different women, buy tools I don't really need or rarely use, same thing with music equipment and enough guns and ammo to start my own 3rd world dictatorship-----just can't see handing money over based on the turn of a card!
And please don't tell me this can be "just for fun"..............not a single one of those gaming shows do NOT hype all the money won or available to win during those events.
