I just picked up a 99' 250 4x4 v10. WOW! what a beast. My question is has two parts(more if you want to elaborate). I have two tow hooks where the oem fog lights would be. Where's the best place to install aftermarkets, and what are most of you guys using? Do most run auxillary switches? I'm guessing when I pull on the light switch that is for the stocks. If I tap into that, will they only come on with low beams? I apologize if this is a repost, I'm new to the forum. Thanks in advance.
The stock fogs, go on either side of the license plate, not where the tow hooks are. And as far as the stock swith goes, I beleive the answer is yes, they only will be on with low beams, but there is a way to slice in and make the switch truly a on off.
Off hand, I don't know which wire it is you need to splice into, but you may be able to find the thread if you search around.
Don't buy the aftermarket one thru FORD... I thought I was getting factory ones in the kit I bought. Turned out the light assemblies are diffrent. They are round instead of squares with rounded corners.
check your light swith if it has the aux part, pulls out when lights are on, not all of these swithches were marked. this is far the fog light or aux light hook up, if it does pull out then you will have a 3 point hookup for your lights w/o having to install a toggle, most 99's have this. just pull your switch plate out and go to town.
