Or, The overhead console can be had from most salvage yards or from FORD ($$$). Try to get one from the same year as your truck. The biggest headache will be running the power, data and sensor cables through the truck. Data of course comes from your truck's computer. The power usually runs along with the data cable. The real work is running the temperature sensor out and into the front grill area.
It's not that hard of a job and would just be a little of you time. Let us know how it comes out.
Actually, the outside temp sensor wire is already there- at least it is on my 2001. Its near the left front turn signal iirc. and runs over behind the right kick panel, to a connector that also has all the other wires you need.
I bought a used overhead console on ebay, but I have yet to work up the nerve to start slicing up my headliner.....
