I have a 2001 F-150 with the 5.4 V-8. i am putting my third engine into the truck right now. I was wondering if anyone out there has had problems with their 5.4's blowing on them? When the engine went this time it had oil pressure, and coolant. There was no warning, I've heard from a few people the 5.4's are "throw-away engines", I didn't believe them, but now I'm not so sure. Any feedback on this would be appreciated.
How many miles is on the truck?
Also, this would be the wrong forum. My grandfather has put about 200,000 miles on his 2001 5.4L and he just does the normal maintenance.
Rick Eckardt: I have a real problem beliveing that 5.4s are a
throw away engine or that you have blown that many 5.4s. I have seen dozens of 4.6s & 5.4s with well over 200k miles & all
with factory engine assemblies. This type of reliability issue is not a mod motor issue!

Turbo Ted, I'm having trouble believeing this also. Everything I've seen so far says the 5.4 is a good engine. I'm starting to think the last one was a bad engine. The first engine was my dad's fault. But the second just went.
Sounds like perhaps a problem with the first (original) engine, and the others were remans (which are a waste of time)
My Company Truck has 334,000 Miles and we only change oil and clutches.
svt-lariat, I just got the truck back this weekend. I had the dealer drop a reman into it. If this engine goes also, I'll probably end up selling the truck.
I want to thank everyone out there who posted. If this engine goes, I'll be back.
