Problem: Trailer wiring rubs tailgate when towing gooseneck horsetrailer...
Solution: Add 7 wire connector to bed without removing the factory unit.
Preference: Find a connector that plugs into the factory plug.
In short I would prefer to not use vampire clamps or cut and splice the original wiring. If it is the only option I will, and can, but I don't like to. Does anyone know of this type of contraption that will fit my 2004 F-350 CC??
You could get a 7 pin trailer end plug and plug it into your factory 7 pin connector at the hitch, run the 'trailer' wire harness back up the frame under the bed, drill a hole in the inside side bedwall near the wheelwell, stick the harness through there with a rubber grommet around it, and hook it up to a regular 7 pin truck end plug just the one by your trailer hitch, mounted under the side bedrail. Plug trailer into that. This plug could also double as a camper plug in if you ever wanted to carry a slide in camper.
