Steering wheel stitching

Anybody have problems with the stitching on the steering wheel? In my FX4, the thread on the top part of the steering wheel is slowly coming out...which is visible and annoying. Took it to Ford today and they said they can't order a new one unless it totally comes off and the steering wheel wrap becomes loose. Kinda makes me mad...any suggestions on things I can do to fix it? I tried trimming it down with pocket knife scissors, but that's about it. Thanks

I dont know what dealer you are going through, but they still should fix that, if you create a big enough stink. With Ford they have the Blue oval satisfied thing, and if you go above the dealership and complain it gets the job done. Tell them that you didnt spend 30k on a truck for it to look like crap after a month.

It is a 2004 36/36 warranty.
I am sure something can happen to it to make it fail.

Just keep pulling on it.Got any children? Teach them to pull on it.

Get my message.

Raise enough hell, you should see some action. Although you should not have to after only having the truck for such a short time. A defect is a defect and the dealship should fix it right away.

As for Dr No's comment, I just have to say one thing. Great comment. You made me LOL. Thanks, I needed that today.

My Suggestion :

Go in and ask that: " it be ordered now and not after it has fallen apart, then add ,there is no way a brand new truck after spending $40,000 dollars should a person have to be driving with a Faulty part".

Dr. No-

Great minds do think alike. That steering wheel cover would come loose REAL fast if it were in my truck!
