New with a question

Hello,

I am new to this site. I have a customized 1978 F150 that I will get some pics up for soon.

Does anyone know if the frames are the same between a 1978 F150 and an F250?

Thanks for the response. So, by heavier do you mean the actual frame rails are heavier. The reason I ask is that I have someone who is going to give me an F250 frame, that I want to strip down. box in, put IFS and my current rear ladder bar set up on and have it powder coated. Then I can just bolt the body off my truck now to it. But if the frame rails are heavier I may not want the added weight, as I do race the truck occassionally.

Some people say the frame rails are the same thickness, other people don't. The best bet is for you to measure the frame rails yourself on the trucks and decide. You can also make a quick estimate of the amount of weight involved by figuring the extra volume of steel in the rail if they are heavier and use 0.28 pounds per cubic inch to find the weight.
