Synthetic Oil
Has anyone had any experience using a synthetic oil in their diesel ? I have a "99" supercrew with 55K and would consider using it lieu of the Rotella I have always used.

I recently tried 5-40 full synthetic diesel oil in my 97 psd. not sure why but it seems to idle much better, even when warm. the fuel injection system uses the oil as hydraulic fluid so maybe a high quality oil compresses better. Easy starting when cold, nicer idle, one grade rated for year round severe use. I'M SOLD!!!!!

I just bought 4 gallons of Delvac 1 and plan to run extended drains of about 15K with oil analysis and filter changes at 5K intervals. I have been running Rotella T synthetic for a while but decided to switch to the Delvac 1 due to the Delvac being a true synthetic. Most say it is a waste of money to run synthetics, but I like the higher heat resistance and easy flowing 5W-40. Good stuff!
