On the 5th Ordered a 2002 F250 4x2 s/c XLT, 5.4, auto,3.73 limited slip, camper package, captains chairs, deluxe aluminum wheels,LT265 tires and a few extra goodies(sliding rear window, telescoping mir. etc.)Toreador red. This truck will replace a 94 Dodge Ram 1500 SB,318,5 speed,6400 GVWR. Took 1400lb loaded slide-in camper to Oregon from Pa.Got around 11 to12 out in the flats at 70mph.Did some downshifting in the mountains but I know the truck was AT it LIMITS. 3.2 rear. The most I'll be towing is a 14 ft. aluminum boat with a 9.9 Mercury. Ha Ha. I think (Hope)the new 2500 will cover my rear.I plan on keeping it 20 years or until I die.

Congrats on the purchase! Now there's just a couple things you'll need to know as an ex-Dodger. Around here we call them 250's or just 3/4 tons... we'll have none of that "2500" speak in these parts.

(I used to have a Ram myself... you'll only make that mistake a couple times )

I hear ya, I've been waiting 2 weeks, and I've still got 3 to go! Waiting sucks, I saved $2000, but it's almost not worth it for a guy as impatient as me.

rattler, congrats on the new purchase! Mines coming in another 4 weeks. Question for the board? How do you guys order a truck and expect delivery in 4 to 5 weeks ? Here in NY your looking at 6 to 8 weeks if your lucky. Sure some dealers promise you the world at order time but being realistic your looking at 7 weeks the earliest? Trimman

My 2001 F-250 SD SC 5.4 just turned over 4000 miles is a piece of junk, the most regrettable thing I ever did in my life was buy this heap of s*&t. owned it 5 months and the junk lives at the shop. Problem 1. Tape left on the hood at the factory and was painted over. 2. Steerimg damper missing 3. Doors on drivers side slamming together at the top chiped the paint all to hell. 4. cold start piston slap motor sounds like a diesel but where's the turbo???? 5. Dealer dented fender, crushed bottom of AC condenser, while changing motor, and is leaking power steering fluid 6. transmission is now slipping over drive light is blinking so I will once again be off to the dealer. I got rid of my bronco which was dying and thought I had bought the ride of a lifetime but instead I bought a big black piece of s*&t. I hope you have better luck with your new truck.

Ford Fleet Program. Here's what my dealer does, he shall remain nameless in case he's breaking rules. He does enough fleet volume that he always has a cushion of 2-3 trucks on his fleet orders, they are pre-ordered as fleet trucks (bare bones) for whatever large company, he just changes the specs to what the customer orders, if they aren't all sold before the order, he changes the specs to the most saleable configuration and puts them on the lot. By doing this he both saves you money and he can guarantee your truck in 4-5 weeks.

He's in a small town located centrally between two large cities (~1.5hr drive), and has an excellent reputation for price and service. He buries the "big" dealers in the cities both in the retail and commercial side of because of the reputation he's earned. I say earned because he was the only dealer I called that new more about the trucks than I did, and I called A LOT of dealers.
