Question quick question about me engine

I have a, i believe its a "78" Ford F-150. I rebuilt the 351 M 400 engine and but a high performance kit into, i dont want to get into details. The engine is real nice but the body is real real bad, beyond repair i believe. I was thinking of putting the engine in a Bronco? Would the work and if so what year would be the best fit!

Lots of the older broncos came with 400's, find one that already has a 400 in it, and swap that out and yours in, good luck

And by the way, welcome to FTE

The 351M and 400 are identical outside so your engine, whatever it is, will fit in a Bronco with either engine. I have been told the front end of a Bronco is just like a pickup.

No one has mentioned years yet... correct me guys if I am wrong but only the big bronco had the 351M/400 engines (1978 and 1979). The earlier (smaller) bronco's biggest engine was a 302 I beleive??? Also the 80's bronco can be outfitted with the 351M/400 by getting a set of motor mounts from a 1980 truck when the 351M/400 was still an option. There is alot of debate as to exactly when those motors were last seen in trucks but I do know that 80's trucks with the right factory mounts can accept the 351M/400. And the bronco has always been basically a 1/2 ton truck with some slight mods.

Again, this is all second hand info and I am not positive on the specifics, but thought I would mention it.

You're right about the 78 being the first big Bronco... Before that they did in fact have small block engines... Some even had Y blocks in the 60's (292) By changing the engine mounts and towers you should be able to put your 351/400 in anything up to 85 I think. Til they went to fuel injection and changed th body style... Even then I'm sure there's a way... It might be expensive. If the bronco had a small block though you'll need to change the bell housing.
