there are several ways to do that . in the old days we would cut the positive coil wire and run it to a switch under the dash , you could also do the same with the starter solynoid , if your trying to kill ignition . if you just want a battery cutoff , several people make them and parts stores sell them ,bob
Thanks Bob, what I was wanting to do was to use it as a security feature. so if someone broke in and tried to steal the truck even if they broke the stering column they would not be abele to start the engine. also would like to keep power to the turck so as not to loose radio presets and ability to use power locks via key fob.
thanks for your help,
Todd
What I did is run a key switch that is mounted in the front door jamb where the dome light button is.
I run a loop wire into the wire that goes to the S terminal of the starter switch.
Just as you leave the truck, you insert the key an put in the Open circuit position.
As you enter with door open you can insert the key for the closed circuit position.
This is only used in the start position, rather the other method which has current running to one side when the key is on/engine running.
The wire that does this is all hidden under the hood.
I have an alarm, Starter interruptor circuit, & Locking hood release.
