ok i found a carrier for my 44 now here come the tricky part.it says for 3.29 and up . is this meaning i higher ratio or a higher number. if its a ratio it would hold like a 2.72 but if its a number it will hold a 4.88. im trying to find on that i can run 4.88 gears on

That should be 3.92 and numerically higher....
The d44 front axle for our trucks has a case break at 3.92...which means ..say a 3.54 gear will be on the 3.92 and lower...and 4.10s would be on the 3.92 and higher (both are numerically lower/higher).
