so i see this kid in a ricer trying to show off to some girls on this 2 lane road. ah. ill show him what a REAL vehicle can do.
he passes these girls, and goes to the right lane. we come up to a red light. im in the left lane. light turns green, he punches it. he knew it was a race... cause i was power braking it and i know he could hear my even revving... i launched off the line, and i could hear his "fart can" muffler just screaming... i could hear him shifting gears, gear after gear til we hit 50MPH then i let off to turn into the grocery store. he couldnt gain speed to get past my REAR bumper!!!! i laughed my butt off!!!!
just for the record before i catch flack about "street racing" keep this in mind... i was only doing 10 MPH over the speed limit when i let off, and the only other car on the road was BEHIND us.
builttoughf250, thats ok i am almost 40 and i still can not get that out of my blood. it drives my wife crazy, but why have a truck that has 400hp and 700 ft/lb of tourque anyhow...
Builttoughf250, thats pretty cool. Reminds me of the other night, i was cruising around and a 2wd chitty pulled up next to me. He looked over at me then shattered down so i shattered down with him. Caught up to him and was staying even, wouldve passed him if we wasnt coming up on traffic. We did it one more time then he pulled over and flagged me down. Asked me what i had in my bronco, and i told him the truth. Stock 302 with AOD tranny and stock rear end. He was saying that i had a quick bronco and all of that crap, and i asked him what he had in his. His reply was 350 bored 30 over. Well after he said that is when i caught him in a lie. He said he ran 12s at george rays 1/4 mile drag strip. Well thats a lie cause george rays is an 1/8 mile strip, always has been always will be. So he probably had a 305 in it, but it was still a nice feeling to catch up to and pass a chitty .
Oh and if yall dont know, george rays is a national "famous" drag strip. Its the last heads up 1/8 mile strip around. Race at your own risk and race what ya bring. Its been on espn alot of times, seems like every year they are there.
Listen, everyone knows that racing is at their own risk. FTE is not condoning racing, or supporting it. You can brag all you want. Thats the forum rules. FTE won't be responsible. You know the risks.
On the other hand, was it really fair Rob? Good kill!
Reading these posts just reminds me of how glad I am to own two slow vehicles. There are times when I get that itch to run the gas hard, but then my vehicles remind me of their sluggishness. It keeps me out of trouble. Now, back when I had my '86 w/ 460 . . . . well . . . . let's just say that I miss that truck.
I say race at your own risk. Just use some sense.
Reminds me of a night back in high school. Had a classmate that went on and on and on and on about his four barrel in his Caprice Classic. Told him to shut up about four barrel this and four barrel that. He challenged me to race him (had the 460 then). I told him 'no', but it did shut him up . . . that's all I wanted.
