Has anyone converted their auto hubs to manaul on a 96 f-150
What all will I need just the new hubs or what?
Please limit your response to 1996 only I know that some of the hubs are different for different years.
Thanks Chris
You will need the hubs and an adjuster kit-new nuts for the wheel bearing adjustment. The auto hubs used a diff nut/locking system that won't work with the manual hubs. I prefer Warn or Mile Marker hubs.
My '95 has Ford 3 screw manual hubs with automatic style wheel bearing nuts. I'm guessing it was converted to manuals, so it is possible to convert just the hubs. (maybe not aftermarket though?)
If you have the 3 bolt hubs, you will need the spindle nut conversion kit. If you have the 5 or 6 bolt variants, you do not. The autos crapped out on my 96 bronco, so I know from first hand knowledge . There have been many posts in the big bronco forum about this topic (and Im sure here as well, but I spend most of my time over there). I believe the prodedure for changing them has also been outlined in a few threads as well. I would do a search over there to start!
I have posted in the bronco forum also but I sold mine to get this f-150. I have seen post on this but there was some confusion about what parts someone would really need. Nothing is worse than having to run to the parts store in the middle of a repair.
