Chemical strippers?
The truck I'm working on is a '69 Ranger that has at least three different coats on it and the sanding is going painfully slow.

An application tip for stripper; Lay it on with a brush just as heavy as you can, and then immediately COVER it up. Plastic garbage bags work well, masking paper, anything that will keep the chemicals in the stripper from evaporating. Give it time to work(sometimes an hour or more) It will sometimes go through more than one layer of paint at one time when you do it that way.

It seems to get the job done and I see it
in most NAPA stores.
You might rethink your options as three layers of paint
is not to much if you have good adhesion.
a good DA sander and you should be home free.
Chemical stripping by hand is a tough deal.
If your intent on going to bar metal on the whole
truck you might check out sand, bead or dry
ice strippers in your area.
Good Luck!
