Crate engine- Good price?

I was just wondering if you guys thought that $2156 for a complete (not long block) NEW 351 (1991) engine to replace my 4.9 is a good price. That's through my dealership, with a 36 month, 75,000 mile warranty. I like the complete engine thing, no having to hunt down parts I don't already have. Thanks in advance.

Depends on how much building would cost. Of course that one wouldn't come with a warranty or as good a warranty. How much would the dealership charge you for the install? -wb

Thats a pretty good warranty on a stock replacement. I would say its an excellent price. Even a sportsman 351 is about $2800, and thats a short block.

I have gotten 2 junk yard engines, a 5.7L and also 1.8L

both had problems, albeit fairly minor which did not prevent them from running good.

If I had to do it over again, I would either find a very low mileage engine or ideally go with new "crate engine".
