I am planning on buying a new 250 crew cab 4X4 soon and have enjoyed reading all of the info and insight on the board. You have helped make my engine decision a little easier. Unfortunately, gas milage is my biggest driving force in making the decision and short drives will be the norm. I have spoken to someone who knows someone who knows something if you follow, that believes Ford will be coming out with a new international diesel in 2003. Supposedly, it is a dual turbo charged model that is supposed to deliver 24MPG. This is something that I find hard to believe but something I would definately wait for if true. Does anyone know anything? How could I find out? Any opinions or help would be appreciated.

read about the new 6.0L Powerstroke at [link:www.blueovalnews.com|blue oval news]. It is at the bottom of the page.
Thanks, that looks really great although first year models are scarry. I assume it will have the standard warranty to cover the new technology for the long haul.

I'm sure the warranty will be the standard 100K. I'm not sure of how much new technology will be in it. Seems like fairly standard, yet updated, diesel technology.
I was saying that I although I new of the "camless" engine. It seems to have slipped my mind when wrting my earlier post...I like diesels, I just don't LIVE diesels...
Time will tell...I heard that the 4.6L PSD got put on hold...
IH is indeed gping to introduce camless technology, but not in the 6.0 or 4.6 liter engines slated by Ford as the 7.3 liter replacement.
The technology is still too large for these blocks, and will be introduced on the larger engines first. We'll see it in our PowerStrokes a few years from now.
So there won't be any great and new technology in the 2003 models? They are claiming more HP, torque, and greater fuel economy out of a smaller engine. I want a big truck but don't need it drinking gas like a big truck. My explorer gets 12/15 and I was hoping to at least maintain those numbers. Diesel numbers generally indicate a modest improvement over what I have been getting. However some of the munbers in the article were showing 22 mpg for the 7.3 PSD which seems a little unrealistic.

The 2003 _WILL_ have the new 6.0 engine. It just is not a camless design. It does have many other brand new (for Powerstroke) features, however.
