High Idle
New to the board. Got a '89 F-150 4x4 that idles high once it gets warmed up (1500-2000 rpm). Can't find any vaccum leaks and IAC almost new. Replaced original 300 6 Cyl. with a different 300 6 Cyl. Had surging idle with old engine which was fixed by IAC change out. Think the problem lies in EGR or TPS. What's the normal course of action to get the codes. Do I have to go to a dealer?

You can do it yourself, it's not hard, it just requires you to count the blinks of the check engine light.
