LOOKING FOR HELP!!!!!

Hey everyone! I'm new here, and have been exhausting my bandwidth looking for help on some bolt-on items for my 2001 F-250. I'm looking to add some basic items like Headers, a chip, some form of filter like K&N or AIRRAID, a Throttle body spacer, and maybe a mass airflow sensor. I've had some difficulties locating parts (Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places!) for my truck. I'm in a 5.4 Liter, 5 speed, 2wd truck. It's also a SuperCab. Everywhere I go, the parts are for the Explorer, or F-150's . Any Help, reccomendations for suppliers, performance gains or drawbacks, or just general info you can give would be SUPERDUTY helpful!
(Also, if anyone has the torque settings on exhaust bolts, that's another piece of info I can't find!)

Uh...dang I can't remember the place offhand. If no one else responds, I'll dig some info up.

I can get you the specs but which bolts exactly? The NUTS on the exhaust manifold are torqued to 17-20lb.-ft.

>Welcome!!

Thanks!

Any of the above... I've looked at Heddman (sp?), JBA, and even tried to find some via Ford motorsports/SVO. I'm looking for ANY help or ideas.

>K&N is sold HERE at FTE

Any others? I'm not too happy of how proud K & N is of their gear, and can't find a part number for my application. All I can find is the numbers for a V-10 or Powerstroke application.

Why? Pro's, Cons???

BINGO! I'm looking for torque specs to get the headers snugged down properly, and if their is a reccommended pattern for tightening (i.e. from the middle out on heads?)

LOOKING FOR HELP!!!!!

OK, Welcome to the site!
Air filter - I went with the K&N FIPK. Didn't see much, if anything change.

Superchip - Holy Schmoley What a product! Incredible performance gains with similar mpg. Could be a little higher if I could just resist my lead foot

Exhaust - Ordered the Gibson Stainless steel Sweptside cat-back. I was going to get the flowmaster force II for the sound. Went to go order it and when I asked about the performance, the old guy at the shop said "if you want sound, get Flowmaster. If you want performance, get Gibson" That sealed it for me. I've been researching that for over a month.

Throttle body spacer - Everything I've researched about it says there is such a MINIMAL gain that all it really does is make an annoying "wind tunnel" sound.

Mass air sensor - Good idea when you get a supercharger. When i asked around, the answer I got is that the Superduty already has a large MAF. Only difference between stock and aftermarket is the calibration. And for $300 minimum, I think I'll pass. Could swear I found them on a website somewhere. Think they were called Pro-M or something like that.

Locating aftermarket stuff for the Superduty - Not as easy as those friggin half tons and suvs, but doable. JCWHITNEY has some products. I can't think of any "big" superduty based product sites out there, but there actually is alot. Just have to be patient in searching - Yeah right

Torque ratings - Got me. I don't plan on messing with anything pre-cat. Don't want to risk "the man" bustin' my chops about my baby

Although, one of these days, I HAVE to fork over the dough to supercharge. Whether it will be with ATI Procharger, Magnacharger, Eaton, or Whipple will be decided, hopefully, by the time my warranty runs out

Congratulations on owning a Superduty and good luck with your mods.

From the rear (towards rear of engine) start with the top nut then the bottom. In alternating sequence (top then bottom) all the way to the front.

Just to make sure you got it right, you should end with the bottom nut on the forward facing end of the manifold.

I'm sure I don't have to tell you to hand tighten first then torque 'em...but I just did.
