Question Steering wheel interchange

Anyone know what Ford truck steering wheels will swap onto a '48-'50 F1 column?

Zonk,

I'm pretty sure 48-57 works, but not sure beyond that.

If a 1957 will work like Vern says, then up to 1960 will work because '56-'60 are the same wheel.

Thanks! So we're up to '48-'60 interchanging so far...good news for me and my cracked-like-the-Mohave-desert original steering wheel!

Yes, I've seen them, and they look pretty good. But once I saw that $200+ price tag I figured I'd take a look at some alternatives...

I have a mid 1970's F600 on mine while i worked the cracks out
of the original. I finished the original but now I like this one
better. It looks like all 1956 into the 70's up to F 600 fit- F700 to
F900 has bigger shaft size. You just have to make sure you
get the horn parts with the wheel.

The only thing I would be concerned about with the 56 and up model steering wheels is that they are of the LIFE GUARD style. This means that they are not a flat style and they actually come back towards the driver (The horn button is recessed in the middle)and if you are a big guy you will loose about 2-3" of belly room.

Andy,

I think the cars interchange 40-48 and 49-57. I've never tried to put one on a truck personally, but it is my understanding they have a different shaft size. If somebody really wanted to I guess they could change out the truck steering box to a car steering box, but I don't know what that would involve or if it would be worth the effort just to use the wheel.
