I was wondering what is the best Trany fluid for the Auto tran. of the F250 PSD. I am going to do the change myself and I need to know the best fluid to use, I take care of this truck and only the best will due, and if any one has any tricks of the trade to pass on it would be very helpfull. thanks, this board has been very helpfull in the past, I tell every one just how great this board is, thanks again.
I recommend Mobil 1 tranny fluid. HOWEVER, I am not running it. When I went to get it changed, the dealership didn't have any in stock. Not wanting to come back, I just put regular fluid in it.
Changed at the recommended 30K intervals or less, I'm sure I'll (you'll) be fine.
But before my annual pilgrimage to the Carolinas this summer dragging an 8K trailer and screamin' kids, I'll be changing it to Mobil 1 just cause I can then do it myself without turning into an ice cube outside.
TRY AMSOIL UNIVERSAL ATF. I USE IT IN ALL MY VEHICLES AND IT'S SERVICE INTERVAL IS 4-6 TIMES PETRO BASED FLUID.ALSO I TRIED TO CHANGE ATF ON MY SD AND ONLY GOT OUT ABOUT 8 QTS. OUT OF A POSSSIBLE 17 QTS.I DIDNT THINK THE TORQUE CONVERTER HELD SO MUCH FLUID. WHAT IVE DONE BEFORE, AND SHOULD HAVE DONE THIS TIME, IS GO TO A LOCAL JIFFY LUBE OR SPEE-DEE LUBE. THEY HAVE A MACHINE THAT SUCKS OUT THE OLD FLUID AND PUMPS IN THE NEW STUFF.IF YOU BRING YOUR OWN FLUID THEY USUALLY GHARGE 20$-40$.
