Looking for some ideas from you guys,, Ive got a cat back exhaust system on my truck now, 1 in 2 out flowmaster muffler. I was wondering is there a more performance designed system that can be installed? Taking it in thursday or friday and want to go in with some idea of what I want to change over to... Thanks again for any ideas you all have....
I personally wouldn't spend a lot of money to re-do an exhaust..unless it was from stock. I don't believe that it would be worth the money for the (extra) performance you may get....
especially a flowmaster...maybe go with a different mod..?Chip, Intake, Headers...??
I have a MagnaFlow that performs well but isn't as loud as most FlowMasters and ended up costing >$500 installed. For that much money you can get more performance elsewhere since you already have a less restrictive exhaust. Exhaust systems will depend on what type truck you have and engine. There are several for SuperCabs and not many for V6. My MagnaFlow was sold for ext. cab short bed but fit reg. cab long bed perfectly. It was also catback 1 in, 2 out, all stainless, exit straight out back under the bumper. My next step is the air intake and full tune up, plus trans mods.
Tim...I heard from a bunch of people on here that the magnaflow out flows the flowmaster..
I have 3" pipe from the y pipe back with a magnaflow muffler. It's nice and quiet in the cab, but when I get on it the world comes to life...I can smoke the tires now, where I couldn't before...
03 5.4 SuperCrew FX4...
there are before and after pictures on my gallery
oh yeah, it only cost $247 installed also...

I don't know the flow numbers either. Mine is quiet in cab but has more rumble at idle than stock. It really sounds good at 2000 rpm up under throttle but won't be heard for miles like my older trucks with 18" glasses. I've seen sheets posted here promoting Hooker and Borla. The full race mufflers have extremely better numbers but are more expensive and I doubt they will flow full potential with the cats/ no headers/ no head porting, cam improvement etc. I was only looking to improve stock and sound better. I don't race and ain't looking for legal attention. Get compliments on the looks all the time. By the way, Borla never responded to my e-mail and nobody listed a catback for RC F250LD 4x4. AutoSounds responded and said I might have to modify their kit. All i had to do was drill a hole on each side for hangers holding the rear exit pipes and adjust back/forth and side-side. It does fit tight around the spare but heat hasn't been a problem.
yeah, I had to keep mine family friendly....Like you, I'm sure it could be better, but what the heck, sounds great and looks nice at a good price....I'm not complainin'
