Charactoristic Ford Engine Knocking
I have a '98 5.4L that seems to knock under normal driving conditions (after comming up to temp) unless I run a minimum of 89 octane fuel. Prior to having a deal modify the computer (I cant remeber what they did?) it would even knock with 89 octane fuel. I assume this to be a common issue?
I have also seen this on the 4.0L V6 and the V10. Is this just something that everyone ignores (I have had this confirmed by others. . .so I don't believe that I am hearing things)?

4 guys at work have late model 5.4 trucks. They are not experiencing any knock issues. Mileage on their trucks range from about 20,000 to 130,000. maybe your truck would benefit from a decarbonization treatment. good luck, but i wager the knock can be eliminated.
