dually 4x4 conversion

hi guys. i have a 1994 powerstroke crew cab dually 2wd truck, and im probably getting a 1994 crewcab 4x4 single rear wheel diesel truck for parts. im planning on converting the dually to 4wd. my question is, can i make the dually frony hubs work with the 4wd axle, so that i can use the factory dually "bud" wheels, or will i have to buy aftermarket hubs? any info would be appreciated.

There are differences in the 2wd and 4wd frames in the front, and I imagine out by the transfer case area crossmember/mount as well. The 4x4 also has a tracking arm mounted to the frame that the 2wd doesn't have. Since they are both Crew Cabs, it may be alot easier for you to use the best body and engine of the two trucks on the 4wd truck and change the 4wd truck into a dually than to change the 2wd truck into a 4x4.

I don't think you will be able to use the 2wd front hubs on the 4x4 because the front axle shafts have to go through there and the locking hub has to bolt up to it, plus the spindle on the 4x4 is hollow for the shaft to go through. You may end up having to go to the junkyard and take everything from the spindles outward from a 4x4 dually front front axle.

On the rear end, I believe the dually used skinnier rear spring packs, so you might need to swap spring hangers from one frame to the other to bolt up the complete dually rear axle and springs if you were to use the 4x4 truck but I still think that's simpler than converting the 2wd truck to 4wd.

Anyways, just a thought for ya.
