Angry Fuel pump prob

aight, heres whats up...i got a '90 f-150 with a 5.0 efi....and the fuel pump wont prime....i go to crank it up and nothing...sometimes it wont and sometimes it will...but more than likely it wont....heres the weird part....i replaced my wiring harness with one from a junk yard.....well today i go out to my truck an undoe all the electrical tape and see that a wire and come undone...so i go get the saudering gun and fix it, well it works fine now....unless you count the awful fuel smell, and the fact that it runs and idles like a dog running on 2 legs i see that one of my plugs is covered in oil...so i replace it...then go to crank it up...and nothing.....ive come to the conclusion that its the fuel pump in the tank, before i go do it, or take it to someone who knows just what the hell their doing, i need some advice, ASAFP!

i would get the correct wiring and make sure there are no shorts to ground or on to any other wires and make sure that it applys to your truck if you have dual tanks or if you have the older system where you had two low pressure pumps in the tank and a booster pump on the rail. or the newer system where there is a high pressure pump in the tank and no booster. if you have duals then you have a switching valve.

as for the oil on your plug are you talking about a plug on the harness or a spark plug ?????
