I have a '83 F150, needs the exhaust manifold gasket replaced, so I priced out some hedman headers to replace the old cast manifold. To see if its worth adding them. $299 for the header (thats canadian). Seems like no one had anything bad to say about them here, so I think I'll do it. I saw there were mods needed for the CAT on the newer models, but mine doesn't have one, so unless theres something else I should know, there doesn't seem to be a problem. Other than sound, will they make a dig difference? It a daily driver 267,000 original kms. And its one of my pride and joys!
I won't do the installation, its going to my mechanic for that. Very good guy, does great work, he thinks putting these on is a waste of money.
OK, I got all the facts from other posts, now I see why its gets annoying when you don't search through them. So I apologize.
Anyway, I'm putting the Hedmans on and getting both intake adn exhaust (obviously) gaskets changed. I just hope headers last as long a cast manifolds, by that I mean durability.
I know this won't make my 300 break the sound barrier, I'm NOT trying to, I can't wait to see for myself what headers will be like.
