Cruise Control Illumination

The illumination for the cruise control on the steering wheel is out on the right side. I have a 2000 EX XLS, is there a bulb that can be replaced or do I have to replace the entire control module? Anyone know? Thanks.

The illumination that you see is in the buttons itself. You would have to replace the whole button section on that side. These are easily found at a junk yard for pennies. All you have to do to change it is pull up along the edge gently, there are 2 clips that keep it down and undo then and lift up about a half and inch and then slide it right to get the metal prongs out of the commectors, and then it is loose and you are all set.

Search the messages for this topic, some people have found a replacement part (bulb). Saves buying a new switch. I found a Porsche part, but someone else found a ford part number.

This happens every now and then on my 97 Exp. I just tap the back of the Cruise Control unit and it usually comes right back on (sometimes I ave to 'tap' it a little harder) I would try that b4 replacing the bulb or the unit. Then again my Exp is quirky, lots of little problems here and there (wobbly rearview mirror, broken rear passenger handles, etc.)

That happened on my '96 XLT and the cruise control wasn't working.
Did your CC stop working or just the lights?

I've been trying to find out how to repair the the CC but I haven't got an answer anywhere.
